Question:
Why should I have my air ducts cleaned?
Over time, air ducts accumulate dust, allergens, and other contaminants that circulate throughout your home. Professional air duct cleaning helps improve indoor air quality, supports better airflow, and can contribute to improved HVAC system efficiency.
Question:
How do air ducts become dirty?
Air ducts become dirty as your HVAC system continuously circulates air that contains dust, pet dander, debris, and airborne particles. These contaminants gradually build up inside the ductwork over time.
Question:
How often should air ducts be cleaned?
The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends professional air duct cleaning every 3-5 years. However, homes with pets, recent renovations, or indoor air quality concerns may require more frequent cleaning..
We highly recommend air duct cleaning service before occupying a new home, after remodeling or renovation projects that generate significant dust (such as sanding new hardwood floors or drywall work), or during tenant transitions in rental properties to ensure a clean and healthy indoor environment.
Question:
How can I tell if my air ducts need cleaning?
Common signs include visible dust inside vents, musty odors, increased allergy symptoms, recent renovations, or if it has been more than 3–5 years since your last cleaning.
Question:
What factors increase the need for air duct cleaning?
Factors such as poor indoor air quality, pets, smoking indoors, recent renovations, or occupants with allergies or respiratory conditions may increase the need for more frequent air duct cleaning.
Question:
Do you handle mold and mildew in air ducts?
Yes. Our technicians inspect the system to determine whether mold is present. If it is limited to accessible areas, we clean and disinfect those surfaces. If mold is found deeper in the system, we provide photographic evidence and recommend appropriate professional remediation solutions.
Important Notice: In some cases, mold and mildew issues may result from an underlying malfunction in your HVAC system. We recommend having your HVAC system inspected by a certified technician to identify and resolve the root cause before proceeding with air duct cleaning. Additionally, a follow-up inspection is advised six months after treatment to ensure no new mold or mildew has developed.
Question:
What is an "Air Negativity Pressure Machine"?
An air negative pressure machine is a high-powered vacuum system that creates suction within the duct system. This process pulls dust, debris, and contaminants out of the ducts, ensuring a thorough and effective cleaning. We use that machine for supply vents located on upper-walls or ceiling vents. If the property has low-wall or floor supply vents, we would recommend deep-cleaning process for these vents.
The use of this equipment is typically recommended when a visual inspection of the supply vents reveals signs of dirt and debris. Under normal HVAC operating conditions, with the air filter being replaced regularly, the supply ducts and vents should be fairly clean. However, if dirt and debris are present in the supply ducts, it indicates that contaminants have bypassed the HVAC filter, traveling from the return ducts back to the supply vents. This suggests poor maintenance of the air duct system, requiring not only thorough cleaning of all return vents but also comprehensive cleaning of all supply vents (what we call Deep Cleaning Service).
Question:
What is the difference between "Standard" and "Deep" air duct cleaning?
Standard Cleaning Service - is a maintenance-level service designed for homeowners who regularly maintain their HVAC air duct system. This means having the system serviced every 3 to 5 years and replacing air filters consistently. When maintained at this frequency, the accumulation of dirt and contaminants remains within normal levels, requiring only a routine cleaning.
This service includes:
-
Cleaning the air supply ducts using the Air Negative Pressure Machine to remove dirt and debris efficiently.
-
Inspecting each return duct by opening all return grilles, assessing contamination levels, and cleaning the registers.
-
Using power tools, snakes, and brushes to clean every return duct thoroughly.
-
Replacing HVAC filters with new ones.
-
Cleaning the Plenum Box (Return Trunk) connected to the furnace (if accessible).
-
Ensuring all registers are properly closed and the HVAC system is running.
Deep Cleaning Service - if the HVAC air duct system has not been maintained in over 5 years, or has never been serviced, we recommend our Deep Cleaning Service to restore air quality and system efficiency.
This service includes:
-
A thorough inspection of all return duct grilles to assess contamination levels, and using power tools, snakes, and brushes to clean every return duct thoroughly.
-
For heavily contaminated supply vents, instead of relying solely on the Air Negative Pressure Machine, we open and thoroughly clean each supply vent using specialized power tools, snakes, and brushes, extending all the way to the furnace.
-
Cleaning the Plenum Box (Return Trunk) in the furnace (if accessible).
-
Sanitizing all return ducts and supply vents (floor vents as well, if applicable).
-
Ensuring all registers are properly closed and the HVAC system is functioning correctly after service completion.
-
Replacing HVAC filters with new ones.
-
Before-and-after photos to demonstrate the impact of the service.
This comprehensive approach ensures the removal of built-up contaminants, improving indoor air quality and HVAC performance.
Question:
Do you replace the HVAC filter as part of your service?
